Bored, frustrated by repetitive tasks and human error on data that legally had to be accurate or face prosecution for misleading the public!

Only boring people get bored.

I was using a computer, so I went about automating all the repetitive manual tasks.

Constrained by data privacy I could only use the tools at hand.

So I learned VBA and Automated 85% of my workflow.

Condensing 4 weeks of work into a couple of days.

Blown away by the effectiveness I sat on this for a bit, slightly stunned by the outcome.

Was I about to lose my job!?

I had near enough made myself obsolete.

But all it did was evolve my role, make it more interesting and gave me the space to think elsewhere.

Leading me into private enterprise.

Where I helped grow businesses from the ground up.

Efficiency was pivotal from the get-go, an extra day spent on optimisation always pays dividends, saving time and meaning workflows weren’t missed.

It was HubSpot, the early days, rudimental web-scraping, reminder-based workflows which then turned more and more into if this then this.

As teams grew documentation was vital to efficient growth, and new rep ramping.

Marketing and Sales were intertwined, all moves were supported and strategic.

Then I moved to larger enterprise where teams seemed more siloed, results and data held within departments, and presented to the wider org on a quarterly or monthly basis.

We knew the numbers but would hear the frustrations at the watercoolers.

Frustrations became bleeding wounds when the market became difficult.

I didn’t get it at first from moving to a “more mature” business I thought they knew better there was one thing that was screaming at me.

Why aren’t we all talking…..

Were all too busy shitting the bed to try to find new business and hold onto old.

Pivoting strategies with the latest trend.

This was my first realisation that you need an impartial overlord.

Someone who is purely looking, listening and analysing.

To objectively swoop in and shine a light on the areas of opportunity with actionable insights.

The seed was planted, little did I know what was growing but for the next year.

I went out on my own and built out a sales consultancy.

Leveraging all the lessons I had learnt from the rollercoaster journey so far. To help teams define their ICP, capacity plan, value sell, optimise outreach, avoid the spray and pray, structure deals, run deal reviews, dive into closed lost and closed won and see where we could win.

But it didn't stop there.

I aligned and optimised entire revenue processes across sales, marketing, and customer success teams.

Streamlining workflows, integrating data, and leveraging technology weren't just tasks, they were my mission.
